Windows Mobile 6.5

Windows Mobile 6.5

So here it is.  At the GSMA World Mobile Conference, Microsoft, today, revealed Windows Mobile 6.5 and it’s looking pretty sweet.  It’s not like the unveiling of WinMo 6.5 is a surprise, and it’s obviously that Microsoft isn’t betting on an iPhone killer until Windows Mobile 7, but there’s still a lot to be said for version 6.5.  First off, the revamped interface is a welcome change and is much cleaner.  Microsofties are also jumping for joy over the new version of Mobile IE included, since it promises to render pages much more like the desktop version of websites.  Also revealed today was Microsoft’s online phone backup service called My Phone and Windows Marketplace for mobile.  “My Phone” will automatically sync your phone’s contacts, calendar, videos, music, pictures, documents, and other items.  Of course the Windows Marketplace will act as a centralized place to grab all sorts of mobile apps for your phone, though little else is known about it yet.  All-in-all, Microsoft is on the right track.
